Foreign Policy
Question: Do you approve of how the Bush administration has handled the war in Iraq?
Answer: Absolutely not. The war in Iraq is not only unconstitutional, it is criminal. Let Halliburton hire its own army!
Since World War II the United States has been involved in tragic, unconstitutional, undeclared wars that cost our country the lives of many thousands of young Americans. These wars were the direct and foreseeable result of the bi-partisan interventionist policies of both Democrat and Republican administrations.
We need to bring our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan immediately, and from every other foreign nation where we have them scattered (currently over 140). Never again should American troops be employed on any foreign field of battle without a declaration of war by Congress, which the U.S. Constitution requires.
Furthermore, Congress must refuse to fund unconstitutional, undeclared wars pursuant to presidential whim or international obligations under which American sovereignty has been transferred to multinational organizations.
Question: Do you consider yourself an isolationist?
Answer: No. I am a non-interventionist. I believe America should stay at home and mind its own business. We need to stop telling other sovereign nations how to run their affairs. That is not saying we need to cut ourselves off from the rest of the world. We can have diplomatic and economic trade relations with the rest of the world without having a military presence and threatening occupational forces in their countries.
Congress
Question: Congress has faced criticism for not functioning properly, with bills not receiving debate, and corruption scandals. How should Congress, as an institution, improve?
Answer: Congress could free up 99.9% of its time and greatly improve as an institution by considering only legislation that is consistent with the Constitution of the United States. This is not difficult for a leader who has no ties to special interests, and who puts his country and constituents ahead of his own self interests and party politics.
If we were following our Constitution today, the federal government would be reduced to 20% of its size and 20% of its cost. That would mean an 80% reduction in the amount of federal taxes for all Americans. For example, if you were paying $1000.00 a month in federal taxes, you'd be saving $800.00 a month. Maybe you don't make that much. You only pay $500.00 a month in federal taxes. Well, that is still a $400.00 a month savings. Go tell your boss you'd like a $400.00 a month raise. What a waste!
Immigration
Question: What are your concerns regarding immigration and the lack of border security?
Answer: The greatest single threat to our country today is the illegal immigration invasion. Because of the growing radicalization and manipulation of unassimilated immigrant trespassers within our borders by subversive elements, the day may not be far off when we'll see large-scale violence in the streets of America.
Moreover, the treasonous immigration policies and proposals of the Bush administration - failing to close the borders, calling for amnesty, promotion of lop sided trade policies, promoting the erasure of our borders - are designed to suck the life out of our country and ultimately unite Mexico, Canada and the United States into one supranational region called The North American Union. At one time it was called "collectivism" or "communism." Today it is called NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, WTO, and the Security and Prosperity Partnership Agreement, a synonym for the NAU.Congress needs to do its job:Health Care
Question: With health care costs skyrocketing, financial threats to Medicare/Medicaid and 47 million uninsured in the nation, what should Congress do to make sure all Americans get needed health care?
Answer: The federal government has no constitutional authority to be involved in the health care provider business. I am for freedom of choice in the medical market place. Subsidizing something always increases it. Socialized medicine tends to produce more and more sickness and less efficient treatment of sickness.
Hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers should be accountable to patients - not to politicians, insurance bureaucrats, or HMO administrators. It is the role of the private sector to respond to free market demand for goods and services, and of private charity to underwrite those needs that are under-funded.
Few things frighten me as much as the idea of "Universal Health Care" provided by the U.S. government. Can anyone imagine what it would be like to have your health care dispensed by the DMV or the Post Office? It's a scary thought.
Listen, if universal health care is such a good idea, then why not make it voluntary? Give everyone the freedom of choice. If you want the government to take care of you, support it with your additional tax dollars that will be required. On the other hand, you will not be charged the additional tax required if you choose a private provider.
Unfortunately, America doesn't seemed to be much into this "freedom of choice" thing these days. So much for a "republic." Coercion rules the day.
National Debt
Question: Deficits are mounting, and the national debt is at an all-time high. How should Congress reduce the annual deficits? Please name specific tax policy changes or program cuts.My recommendations for program cuts are:
Economy
Question: Does free trade help or hurt Oregon's economy?
Answer: It hurts. Our most important job sectors, agriculture, industrial, and manufacturing are in ruins because of unconstitutional "free trade" treaties like NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA, et al.
I see our country and its workers as more than bargaining chips for multinational corporations and international bankers in their ill-conceived plan to re-order the world.
Therefore, I oppose all international "free trade" agreements which have the effect of diminishing America's economic self-sufficiency and of exporting jobs, the loss of which impoverishes American families, undermines American communities, and diminishes America's capacity for economic self-reliance, and the provision of national defense.
Education
Question: Has the "No Child Left Behind Act" been successful in raising student achievement? Should it be changed?Answer: Successful? No. Should it be changed? No. It should be abolished!
Question: What type of program(s) would you propose?
Answer: Education should be free from all federal government subsidies, including vouchers, tax incentives, and loans, except with respect to veterans.
Because the federal government has absolutely no jurisdiction concerning the education of our children, the federal Department of Education should be abolished. All federal legislation related to education should be repealed, including but not limited to "Goals 2000," "Outcome-Based Education," "School-to-Work," and other similar programs.
The education of our children should be decided at the state level, where parents would have the strongest voice with their legislators.
Moreover, I support the unimpeded right of parents to provide for the education of their children in the manner they deem best, including home schooling and private or religious instruction.
Global Warming
Question: What is your opinion regarding Global Warming?
Answer: I am not a scientist. I have no first-hand knowledge. However, my gut instincts and natural-born skepticism tell me it is another ploy by the powerful elite for the expansion of government and further enslavement of the people.
Why is it that every time there is a so-called
"crisis" the American people are called upon to give up more of their
personal freedoms and independence?
